There has been amazing interest in PodCamp London this year, and we are incredibly excited to see that 250 people have already registered. However more people are still looking to come so we have been working hard to find a solution to fit everyone in.

We are pleased to announce that because of the generosity of our sponsors, and especially our arrangement with the Research Park and the Convergence Center, we have been able to release more tickets and accommodate even more people on May 8th!

Unfortunately we are going to eventually run out of room, so if you want to come better hurry up and register. While we also hope that everyone is able to make it if you know that you won’t be there then please release your ticket so that we can have an accurate picture of the number of attendees.

Be sure to stay tuned over the next month as we get closer to the PodCamp date. We will be announcing a few more exciting events and add-ons to the day!

We would like to acknowledge the Research Park at the University of Western Ontario for opening the Convergence Centre as the location for PodCamp 2010. Without their involvement we would have had a much harder time putting on this event.

The Convergence Center is the newest building at the Research Park, officially opening on January 20th. The building is one of the most advanced and “greenest” office and laboratory buildings in Canada. The building’s mandates it to provide the oppurtunity for government, academia and industry to work together to build and grow the economy of southwestern Ontario. Additionally, specific space was designated for early stage startups.

As one of the greenest buildings in Canada the Convergence Centre has been designated as LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and has made a concentrated effort to reduce their environmental footprint during both construction and operations.

PodCamp London is excited to be able to host London Ontario’s annual UnConference dedicated to social and emerging media in this collaborative and engaging workspace. We hope that on May 8th you take some time to appreciate the generousity of The Research Park in opening their space to us.

Registration starts at 8:30 am on Saturday morning at Station Park.

Sessions begin at 9:00 am and will be continuing throughout the day. I’d encourage you to check out the schedule and plan your day. Keep in mind that sessions will be added right up to and during the day!

The official after partytakes place at Windermere Manor at the University of Western Ontario Research Park. The party will begin at 7 pm and go until midnight. Buses will be leaving station park every 30 minutes starting at 7:15.

Only a few more days to the first ever PodCamp in London Ontario. One of the presenters this weekend is Daniele Rossi.

Hi there!

I’m Daniele Rossi. But you can call me Danny. I must apologize for the cheesy title of my session at PodCamp London which is “Reach Out And Touch Someone”. *cough* I haven’t thought of a better title *cough*

It’s no surprise that I got into podcasting because I was one of those kids in the 80s who was always recording himself and his friends and cousins. So when podcasting came along in the 00s, it was a natural for me to jump in and start up a podcast of my own. In fact, I was kinda sorta podcasting in 1998 when I emailed Real Audio files of my ramblings to my friend in Rome. But that’s another story.

Anyhoo, I didn’t expect what I’d come to learn from podcasting when I got into it. I realized that with the social media tools we have today… wait for it… WE HAVE THE AWESOME ABILITY OF (positively) CHANGING LIVES NO MATTER WHERE ON THE PLANET OUR LISTENERS MAY BE! YEAH!

Using my podcast as a case study, I’ll show how I’m using tools like podcasting and Twitter to help my fellow peeps accept their stuttering (forgot to mention that my podcast is about stuttering; http://www.stutteringiscool.com) and kick major gluteus maximus! BOOYEAH!

PodCamp London is coming up quick. Today we profile a collaborative project that will be taking place throughout the day on April 25th.

Be sure to check out the Friday night launch party announcement.

Digital Business Cards is to be a collaborative project at PodCamp London, a project that will allow every attendee to leave their mark on the day.

Unlike traditional business cards that can get lost or destroyed, Digital Business Cards is an attempt to collect in one easy to access place the essential information from each participant at PodCamp London. Taking a short 90 seconds to answer 3 simple questions about yourself will allow for other PodCamp London participants to remember (1) Who You Are (2) What You Do, and (3) Why You Are At PodCamp London. 6 months down the road these Digital Business Cards can be an easy way to remember who you met and can allow you to make connections and collaborations for future projects.

These videos will be tagged (pclo09 & DBC09) and uploaded to Flickr throughout the day as a way to document everyone who was at the first PodCamp London. For those like myself who always loose physical business cards I figure this would be an easy way to keep track of everyone and put a face/voice to a name, as often a face or voice is much easier to associate with than a traditional business card.

On April 25th I plan on “getting the ball rolling” but I anticipate with the number of people attending I will most likely not be able to tackle this alone. With that said anyone, wanting to spend 90 seconds to “interview” another attendee is more than welcome to help in what I hope can be a collaboration throughout the day.

NOTE: I have yet to actually figure out how I will accomplish this feat on April 25th, most likely with my Macbook, but there is always the chance of me buying a Flip Video Camera before then.

As we get closer to PodCamp London we will be profiling some of the sessions you can expect to hear on April 25th. Today; Jonathan Kochis from Resolution Interactive Media.

Research proves that teens, although very familiar with the web, aren’t the savvy users we sometimes make them out to be. My session extends this hypothesis to social networking and social media. What are the 2.6 million Canadian teens with Facebook accounts using the utility for? Is publishing content as important as maintaining social connections or are the two reversed? Backed by primary research this session will attempt to answer these questions and further the discussion around youth and the social web

Jonathan is presenting in the Oxford Room at 10:30. For more sessions and times, check out the wiki
