We would like to acknowledge the Research Park at the University of Western Ontario for opening the Convergence Centre as the location for PodCamp 2010. Without their involvement we would have had a much harder time putting on this event.
The Convergence Center is the newest building at the Research Park, officially opening on January 20th. The building is one of the most advanced and “greenest” office and laboratory buildings in Canada. The building’s mandates it to provide the oppurtunity for government, academia and industry to work together to build and grow the economy of southwestern Ontario. Additionally, specific space was designated for early stage startups.
As one of the greenest buildings in Canada the Convergence Centre has been designated as LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and has made a concentrated effort to reduce their environmental footprint during both construction and operations.
PodCamp London is excited to be able to host London Ontario’s annual UnConference dedicated to social and emerging media in this collaborative and engaging workspace. We hope that on May 8th you take some time to appreciate the generousity of The Research Park in opening their space to us.
Will Spaetzel from CastRoller.com will be giving a session on “Twitter for Newbies” at 3:15 in the Wellington room.
In Twitter For Newbies I’ll show you the basics of how to get started using Twitter, and how to start Twittering like a seasoned expert. We’ll cover creating your account and getting your profile looking good; finding people to follow; posting your first tweets; and joining in on conversations. We will also look at desktop desktop applications for Twitter and how to protect your Twitter account online.
PodCamp London is shaping up to be a huge success. Kudos to the organizing committee for bringing things together for the rest of us to enjoy.
While on the subject of enjoyment I’m pleased to announce that ResIM will have a hand in post-PodCamp festivities. As part of our sponsorship role we’ve organized a free shuttle to transport all participants between the Station Park Hotel and Windermere Manor. Jump on the big yellow school bus starting at 7:15 p.m.
In addition to the ‘PodCamp Party Bus’ we’ll be supplying free drink tickets to those interested in having one on the house. Just look for the geeky looking web guys.
Don’t forget, if you’re really bored between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. feel free to drop in on my session, ‘Youth, Social Media, and the Web.’
See you Saturday!”
Thanks Resolution IM! I’m sure everyone is going to appreciate the bus and free drinks!
